Golf
The Princess Anne Country Club's original course, designed in 1921 by renowned architect Willie Park Jr., is a testament to his legacy in golf course design. Park, a two-time Open Championship winner, crafted a layout known for its strategic play and timeless appeal. While Clarence Amos Neff, the club's first president, oversaw the early routing and planning stages, it was Park’s design of the tees, greens and bunkers that shaped the course into a classic. Over the years, the course has undergone several transformations, including a total renovation by Tim Liddy in 2007.
Reopened on May 17, 2008, the newly redesigned course blends art and strategy, offering both novice and seasoned players a challenging and scenic experience. The course winds through picturesque neighborhoods lined with lush pines, crosses several inlets and lakes, and embraces the natural terrain with meticulously shaped greens and bunkers. Recognized as one of the region’s most beautiful and challenging par 70 layouts, it was named one of the Top 25 Short Courses in the World by Golf Magazine in 2020.
For those looking to improve their game, the club offers a practice range, putting greens and a short game area, along with PGA-certified professionals for private and group instruction. The pro shop is fully stocked with seasonal apparel and top-tier equipment and caddy services are available to enhance your golfing experience.
